A scarce WW1 Ammunition Box designed for use in the MkV and Medium Mark A British Whippet tanks.

Constructed in light steel with a lift off lid revealing six compartments for the storage of articulated ammunition belts for the .303 Hotchkiss machine guns carried in the Whippet.

On one end is a leather carrying handle, a securing strap arrangement on the other, the leather strap locking the securing strap in in place, broken off. The lid carries the details.
