A collection of paperwork relating to Oberfähnrich Marius Jacobsen including, most importantly his promotion certificate to Leutnant Engineer with the original ink written signature of Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine (Commader in Chief of the Kriegsmarine), Erich Raeder.
This large and impressive Document is dated 1938 and carries the usual eagle and Swastika embossed document stamp in the lower left corner. Overall condition is very good, Raeder’s signature still clear.
Also included is Jacobsen’s Award Certificate for the War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords with again an original Signature, this time that of Admiral Hans-Gerg von Frieburg, Commanding Admiral of U-Boats. At this time Jacobsen was a Kapitanleutnant. Dated 1st September 1944, the Certificate is in very good condition.
Although Jacobsen did see sea service on Zerstorer Z23, I believe during the Narvick campaign, he appears never to have served on U-Boats but was on the staff of 11 U-Boat Flotille.
Other paperwork includes a letter to him from another Engineering Leutnant serving on Z 26, a typed Chronik of U-354 and what appears to be an early post war compilation, in English of the fate of every U-Boat.
A nice collection of Documents, one with the original signature of Erich Raeder
