A scarce German Clothing Sack (Bekleidungssack 31) and the first IÂ’ve had.
Used to compliment the Rucksack and Tornister, these sacks were for personal effects and work clothes and did not general accompany the soldier, but followed on transports such as trains and trucks.
Measuring approximately 40×30 cms., this example is in generally good, sound, but very dirty condition.
The right hand closure strap may be a period replacement, perhaps made from a Zeltbabn carrying strap with the buckle section having been reinforced with wire. This should be removed and hand stitched to maintain its original appearance.
